Music from New Orleans in Périgord: the program for the “Gran'Circus” day, for the festival’s 25th anniversary
Three concerts are scheduled. It will begin with Muddy Gurdy, a cutting-edge and unusual trio consisting of a drummer, a hurdy-gurdy player, and singer and guitarist Tia. The group will be accompanied by Louisiana accordionist Ruben Moreno, a prodigy of zydeco, a genre closely related to Cajun music.
The "Gran'Circus" will continue with the creation of "Nola Review." A dozen brass and percussion players will be on stage, including Craig Klein, a trombonist who has already played with Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, and the Neville Brothers; as well as trumpeter Mark Braud. They will be joining Big Chief Juan Pardo and his Mardi Gras Indian outfit from New Orleans, well known to MNOP fans, as he has been featured on the event's posters for years.
Finally, Moonlight Benjamin, straight from Haiti, will close the evening by captivating the audience with her sensual and soulful voice, drawing inspiration from her voodoo roots. She will be accompanied by experienced musicians, including two guitarists, a bassist, and a drummer.
